HU focus in on members top priorities

Hammers United Supporter Vision

We are pleased to report to our members that work on the second and third priorities identified in our survey can now begin in earnest.

Our supporter survey attracted over 5,000 responses in December 2020. Supporters felt the campaign for a change in ownership was the top priority and so this continues. ‘The look and feel of the London Stadium’ and ‘bringing more local businesses and sellers to the London Stadium’ were the second and third priorities, respectively.

In early 2021, West Ham United agreed to meet with the new Independent Supporters Committee under a shared Memorandum of Understanding. As a founder member of this committee, Hammers United were able to request structured dialogue with the club.

The first structured dialogue meeting took place between Hammers United and the club in March, and we used this to present our survey results. At this point, the club confirmed that they were aligned in terms of the broad outcomes we wished to work towards with reference to the stadium and the sellers.

Our focus then turned to our long-term strategy. We closely analysed the data from all survey questions to craft a supporter vision, detailing how we believe change can be achieved at our club. The club reached out to us following the launch of this vision and re-affirmed their commitment to developing a strong working relationship.

That puts us in a position where our short-term priorities are clear, our long-term vision has been shaped and both have been shared with the club in constructive meetings between HU and club representatives.

This week, at a meeting with the Independent Supporters Committee, we provided an update and outlined next steps. We have welcomed offers of support from this committee on the topics of local sellers and the stadium.

We have a clear mandate, a commitment from the club and support from the ISC.

The campaign for new ownership will remain front and center until there is a change of ownership or until our members instruct us otherwise. Alongside that, we now begin work in earnest to tackle our members other top priorities. We look forward to updating our members.

Long Live West ham.
