SURVEY RESULTS: FANS PRIORITIES ARE CLEAR

Hammers United Survey Results

Thank you to the thousands of Hammers United members and other fans from across the supporter base who took part in our recent survey. These results will be discussed with West Ham in a structured dialogue meeting consisting of Hammers United committee members, club staff and at least one board member.

It is fantastic for Hammers United to be in a position where we can say, categorically, that we hold data which truly reflects the opinions of our members and the opinions of the wider fanbase. Our results are an accurate representation of the answers to our questions, from both of those populations.

Given the size of our membership and the size of the fanbase as a whole, a minimum of 1,000 responses in both categories was required to be assured of a maximum margin of error of 3% in our results. Hammers United were delighted that well over 5,000 supporters took the time to complete our survey.

This was a phenomenal return given that our group is not yet two years old and remote communication was the only means by which we could encourage people to take our survey.

Hammers Chat have very kindly worked with us to present and analyse the full results in the video below.

There are some headlines detailed in this article for those wanting an immediate overview.

West Ham supporters, unsurprisingly, are extremely happy about current performances on the pitch. Hammers United would like to re-iterate that it will always support our manager, coaching staff and players at the club. It is not our place to enter into discussions around such matters.

West Ham supporters want changes in the running of all other aspects of the club. This demonstrates a stark difference between the emotions of supporters connected to the form of the team and the feelings of supporters when it comes to the overall running of their club.

Supporters were asked to select their top 3 priorities in terms of the issues they would like to see the Independent Supporters Board tackle, in the short term.

A very similar pattern emerged in the results when ranking the opinions of all fans, those of Hammers United members and the opinions of members of other supporters’ groups who are represented on the Independent Supporters Board.

Supporters from all groups see the campaign for a change in ownership as a priority, followed by improving the look and feel of the London Stadium.

West Ham fans, it would appear, are a reasonable bunch. They were asked to state what was most important to them, assuming all options were possible.

Supporters selected their top 3 outcomes for West Ham United and a ‘wish list’ of achievable (on the pitch and off the pitch) ambitions has emerged.

West Ham fans, if it were possible, would love to see a domestic trophy and an established Premier League side on the pitch as well as a new home and a strengthened relationship between supporters and club off the pitch.
