UPDATE ON TAXI RANK, LETTER EMAILED TO WEST HAM THIS MORNING.
To Jake Heath, Supporter Liasion Officer.
Dear Jake,
We wrote to you last week requesting a meeting to discuss the taxi rank. So far you have not replied.
In the intervening period we have spoken with a season ticket holder who is registered disabled, unable to get a car parking space at the LS and for whom the shuttle bus is not an option, not least because anyone who would be accompanying them would not be allowed to travel on the shuttle bus. This person still pays for their season ticket as they do not want to lose it and hope that in the future they will be able to manage the walk to the ground again.
This is not a unique case, nor is this situation limited to people registered disabled. There are lots of loyal supporters who while not registered disabled still find the walk to the ground impossible and would greatly appreciate the option of taking a taxi to the stadium.
Many of the club’s supporters are behind this initiative, the LTDA is behind this initiative, TFL is behind this initiative and a suitable site has been identified.
We have reason to believe that it is the club that is blocking the introduction of the taxi rank. If this is not the case, please let us know ASAP and perhaps you would like to add the club’s backing to the calls for the taxi rank and together we can pull out all the stops to make it a reality for the many loyal supporters who are unable to walk to the ground.
If on the other hand it is the club’s Accessibility team that is blocking the introduction of the taxi rank, perhaps you can provide the reason for this ASAP so that we can explain the rationale to our members and the wider fan base.
Thank You.
