Hammers United Statement on Project Big Picture

Hammers United are deeply concerned at press reports of a proposed major restructuring of the Premier League.

Change and reform to English football is needed, but the Project Big Picture plans are simply NOT the answer to football’s financial crisis.

Some of the proposals seem good ideas, but the overriding concentration of power in the hands of 6 selfish billionaire owners simply cannot be allowed. This proposal would give complete control of the big financial decisions to the ‘big six’. They would also, in effect, have the power to hire/fire the Premier League Chief Executive, decide competition structures to suit themselves and run a selection of live matches on their own broadcasting channels! Take note West Ham; they could also veto any prospective incoming owner they did not like!

Football requires a fair share of resources to ensure that the Premier League and the Football League are as competitive as possible. There is a duty to ensure the lower leagues receive the best possible financial support, but this is not the way to achieve that.

What happened to the principle of one club, one vote?

Why were Football Supporters Groups not consulted?

Hammers United calls on the football authorities to work with the Football Supporters Association and Government towards a sustainable future for ALL football clubs. Football remains the heart and soul for many in our communities. The fans are the lifeblood of football and must be heard.
