Statement

Hammers United is a West Ham United fans group dedicated to improving things for all West Ham Supporters young & old.

Statement

We exist to engage West Ham in meaningful discussion aimed at improving all things related to supporting this great club of ours.

We are a non-political group; our soul interest is the supporters of West Ham United.

This is not a protest group. We are a supporter’s group. However, we coordinate protest where our members deem it necessary. At present, our members want us to prioritise continuing to campaign for a change of ownership. Whilst maintaining our campaign, we work with the club on other matters, on behalf of our members. At all times, our members decide our stance on campaigns and protest.

We urge you to join now, it is your club and together we can represent your voice. Check out our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter and on Instagram.

About Us

Hammers United is an affiliate member of the Football Supporters Association. We were formed in March 2019 and we now represent over 18,000 West Ham United supporters.

Our committee consists of twelve volunteers and additional advisory members from the West Ham supporter base, who assist with project work.

There are no membership fees and it is free to join.

Our group has one aim: to improve things for all West Ham United supporters, young and old.

Throughout 2019 we lobbied the club for formal recognition. We had a mandate from our members to engage in dialogue with the club. Our members were against us joining the Official Supporters Board, which was the club created supporter construct that existed at the time.

The requests for dialogue were met with invitations to join the OSB, which we declined.

Early in 2020, before West Ham United played Everton at The London Stadium, we held our first protest. This peaceful, static protest, was attended by approximately 2,500 supporters. We had hoped the protest would encourage the club to engage with our group.

In February 2020, our members asked us to join the ‘GSBOUT’ movement. They felt it was time for our group to join the campaign for a change in ownership as the calls for open and transparent dialogue had fallen on deaf ears. We led 8,500 along the Greenway in another peaceful protest before West Ham United faced Southampton, at the end of February 2020.

Our campaign for a change in ownership continues.

The Official Supporters Board has been disbanded and Hammers United are a proud founder member of an independent group which now exists to work with staff at the club. This independent group, the ISC (Independent Supporters Committee), has representation from each of the FSA affiliate supporters’ associations who operate across the West Ham fanbase.

Hammers United launched our first comprehensive supporter survey late in 2020 and this was completed by thousands of HU members as well as thousands of fans who were not members.

The immediate priority across all groups is for the campaign for new ownership to continue.

Hammers United campaigned throughout 2020-21 in a safe and legal manner and are working with authorities to plan our strategy for this campaign in the coming months.

In the immediate future, supporters would also like to see the design of The London Stadium improved and local sellers / businesses encouraged to play a bigger part in a matchday.

Diversity: it takes all kinds of Hammers to be United.

At Hammers United we are inclusive. We celebrate and welcome multiple points of view. We are united in wanting the very best for all  West Ham United Football Club supporters.

We foster a truly democratic and representative approach to our policies and actions, always from the grassroots up. Our leadership team will always consult and empower our members before agreeing any policies or actions on their behalf.

We will continually strive to add to our membership and representation from every part of the  West Ham United Football Club global fan base.
