West Ham's Refusal to Engage Supporters Groups

West Ham are refusing to engage with democratically elected supporters bodies.

You will be aware that Stephen Timms, MP for East Ham has written to Karren Brady on our behalf.

Wes Streeting, MP for Ilford, is also supporting our campaign and wrote to Minister of State for Sport, Media and Creative Industries on our behalf.

Dear Wes,

Thank you for your email of 4 November on behalf of Hammers United, which is concerned that West Ham FC is not abiding by the rules on fan engagement.

I was sorry to read that West Ham FC is not engaging with its fans, who after all are the lifeblood of any club.

As I am sure you will appreciate, the government is not in a position to broker discussions on this matter.

However, our officials, as part of their regular discussions with the football authorities and organisations such as the Football Supporters Association, have raised this issue and asked that they are investigated as appropriate.

Given that the responsibility for overseeing compliance lies with the relevant football authorities, in this case the Premier League, I suggest that Hammers United should make known its concerns by contacting the Premier League by email at: info@premierleague.com or

With best wishes,

Nigel Adams
Minister of State for Sport, Media and Creative Industries.

We continue to do our best exploring all avenues towards getting West Ham to engage as per Football Governance Guidelines.

Thank You.
